Net cost per wear uses what you’d lose if you sold today (price paid minus resale value), which is the real cost of owning the watch. WristLog.app keeps every watch’s cost per wear up to date from the wears you log, and lets you record what each piece is worth today.
How to read the results
- Cost per wear is the price you paid divided by the times you've worn it. It's the simplest measure, and it only goes down as you wear the watch more.
- Net of resale subtracts what the watch would sell for today. This is the real cost of owning it: a watch that holds its value can cost very little per wear, or even nothing.
- Wears to reach target tells you how many more wears it takes for the net cost per wear to reach the figure you're happy with.

Do it for your whole collection
Working this out by hand for one watch is easy. Keeping it up to date for every watch you own, every time you wear one, isn't. WristLog.app counts your wears as you log them and keeps the cost per wear of every watch current, ranked from best value to worst.
Common questions
What's a good cost per wear for a watch?
Under about $5 a wear is daily-driver territory, and $5–$30 is typical for a watch in regular rotation. Higher numbers aren't necessarily bad for special-occasion pieces, but they're a prompt to ask whether the watch still earns its place.
Should I include servicing costs?
For the most complete picture, yes: add service costs and extra straps to the price you paid.
Where can I find my watch's resale value?
Look at recent sold prices for the same reference on marketplaces and auction results, rather than asking prices.
